Apartment Review
BEWARE!! Heat has been broken since we moved in!
Review Date: 1/2/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
In November I complained that our heater did not work, it is now January and our heater still does not work. We were gone for two weeks in December and I made it clear that I did not want repairmen to enter the apartment when we were gone but they did anyway. I'm not actually surprised since I have been walked in on three times when I did not call for repairs. Somehow they managed to walk into my house, go all the way threw the dining room, living room, bedroom, closet and into the bathroom where I was showering on two separate occasions. The other time i was getting out of the shower. All three times the excuse was that they entered the wrong apartment on accident but they also said they needed to fix the dishwasher in a vacant apartment so I'm not sure what they were doing in the bathroom. Not to mention my apartment is clearly not vacant. The shower is on the wall that borders the hallway so you can tell when someones showering if you are in the hallway. I was actually scolded by the building managers and the repair people because I must have left my door unlocked so it was all my fault. As for the heater, I don't think it will actually get fixed before we leave in a few months. I have called numerous people about it and they either assure me it will be fixed by the end of the week or they tell me to call someone else. I have also called because the bathtub won,t drain, the dishwasher doesn't work, the dryer wouldn't start and the screen doors don't have wheels on the bottom to the fall off the track when you touch them. The dishwasher was fixed after the second repair person looked at it. I fixed the dryer myself. They say that large dogs are not allowed (over 65lbs total weight between two pets) but there are people with more than two dogs and some weighing more than I do. One apartment has two vicious large dogs who they keep on their first floor patio. They are not cleaned up after at all. Huge dog piles sit for days baking in the sun and the urine flows down unto a public walkway and only gets cleaned up when it rains. It smells so bad that you notice it in long before you can even see their apartment. I know people have complained about them but its still as gross as ever. Other people leave their dogs inside during the day but leave the patio door open so it echos loudly when the dog barks for hours when they're at work or out at night. Unlike some apartments dogs are allowed in the apartments surrounding the pool so it gets very loud if you are in any of those apartments. They advertise a "secure building" and locked entrance but many of the locks have been broken since we moved here and others are propped open with huge bricks. They actually sent everyone a flyer saying that there have been a lot of break-ins so lock your doors but keep in mind that the gates are just to detour people, not to actually keep them out or protect you. I called after reading that to let them know about the broken locks but nothing was done. When they give you a tour they take you to the remodeled apartments and keep you away from the bad areas. Our apartment looks nothing like the pictures they show you or the model we saw. The garbage area isn't closed off so it often smells even on the fourth floor when the garbage is full. The jets from Miramar fly directly over out pool. It gets so loud during the day that you cant even hear the tv. Its not their fault but I wish I had known that prior to moving here. They told me it was a very quiet area. We are lucky enough to get two very good parking spaces but some of them that we drive past look impossible. people who have trucks do not fit in their spaces at all. Some hang out into the driving lane so far that the lane becomes unusable. other spaces just look absolutely impossible to get into. If you have guests over they will probably have no space to park in since there are less than a dozen guest spaces and a few hundred units. Parking is not allowed on the street near the building but there are streets a few blocks away that allow it. Keep in mind that there are a bunch of other apartment complexes near there that are probably trying to use those spots too. When we first moved here I thought the other people who wrote negative reviews were just picky or whiners but they're right. The pool is very nice and kept clean, the landscaping is very nice too. The business center they tell you about but don't show you is nothing more than three old computers and a fax machine and printer that never work or are out of paper. Obviously something that you can live without but they make it seem very nice when it is not. The coffee and hot cocoa machine rarely works too so don't count on that either. The amenities are nice and the area is nice looking. There are a lot of very nice people who work here too but when you actually need something like heat they don't fix it. If the complaints were taken care of and things were fixed I would probably like it here. I expected better for the very high price we are paying. Like heat for example. |
